The ‘Crawl, Walk, Run’ Strategy in Freelancing

Hey — It’s Temidayo.

Happy April, and a warm welcome to Q2!

My apologies for the delay in this issue; I encountered some unexpected technical issues.

On a brighter note, my Upwork account has been reactivated—thanks to their support team.

Work is progressing smoothly, as usual. Plus, I’ve resumed my video content creation full-time after a brief hiatus due to other commitments I had.

This issue will be brief, so without further ado, let’s jump into what I cooked.

 – Crawling, Walking, Running

You see, freelancing is about crawling, walking, and running.

Let me explain…

You start a small smartphone stall in a local market. You have some phones, and you’re selling them to friends and family.

You make your first $10 from it. That’s proof that there’s a demand for what you’re offering, yeah?

You learn game properly, understand what your clients want, and keep trying to give them.

That is what I call Crawling.

As you gain confidence, your inventory grows, and then you start Walking by scaling up your stall to a tech hub.

Now, you’re not just selling phones; you’re also selling accessories and maybe even offering repairs.

You’re making clean $100 now because you’ve expanded your services and even starting to attract clients from beyond your initial circle.

Once you’re comfortable with that, then you start Running.

You launch an e-commerce store, reaching more clients across the country and beyond.

At that point, you’re not just a stall owner anymore; you’re a brand. You sell the latest phones, offer tech support, and competitive prices.

You’ve turned that $100 you were making into $1,000 by creating a better shopping experience for your clients. You’re running a proper reliable business.

You see, starting with a single skill in freelancing, you can expand your service offerings and scale up your operations.

But keep it at the back of your mind that anyone can crawl, but not everyone can walk, or even run.

The point is to start small, validate your freelance business model, and then build upon your success.

Best believe, if you can make $1 from a skill, you can indeed make $10, and then $100, and beyond.

That’s all for Today.

I’ll text you again, next Monday.
