OpenAI’s Sora Could Change Your Game

I know I am.

Because I just landed a new client over the weekend and I’m already working on their stuff.

And yes, I’m loving it!

That said, let’s jump into 3 ideas I cooked up this week.

#1 – Sora could change the game (for good or for worse)

If you’ve been following my newsletter since last year, you’d know I’m a fan of AI. I’ve been sharing how AI can open up new possibilities that other skills can’t. I mean, just look at how many jobs there are on Upwork for editing AI-generated writing.

Well, ​OpenAI just launched Sora​, a tool that turns text into video using generative AI. It can create videos up to 60 seconds long from any prompt. If you ask me, I’d say this is a game-changer for the video market, especially for freelancers.

But it depends on how you use it. You can either improve your skills as a video editor or videographer, or you can learn how to write effective prompts to generate better videos using Sora.

That’s why I always encourage freelancers to keep up with the trends. You have to embrace AI, for your own benefit. That’s how you can change your game, for the better.

#2 – If you don’t know what to sell, sell what sells

A freelancer who reads this newsletter asked me about learning a more marketable skill to thrive on Upwork.

I gave a long answer, but here’s the short version: Sell what sells, but don’t ignore what you have.

You see, you have to sell what the market needs, but also promote what you can do. You never know who is watching. You never know when you might get an opportunity to sell what you have.

Look at me for example. Whenever someone asks me what I do, I say I’m a writer. But if someone else asks, I say I’m a website developer. I sell writing because it’s easier for me, but I always remember that I have web development skills to sell.

Now, do you see what I mean? 😉

#3 – On fuck ups

Let me leave you with this one:

You’re free to fuck up.

Just don’t fuck up in a way that will fuck you up for life.

Some fuck ups cannot be unfucked.
